What we do
At Profertil, we produce and sell nutrients for the land. Our plant produces 1,320,000 tons of Urea and 790,000 tons of ammonia per year. Other nutrients are also sold, and special blends are prepared so that the soil receives what it needs to optimize its yield in a sustainable way. We understand that the product should be supplied with the best application suggestions.
Thus, we train the farmer in the optimization of fertilizer use practices, soil resource care and productive system sustainability.

What do we do it for
When a plant grows, it takes from the soil the nutrients it needs to develop. All crops need those nutrients, they are their own essential constituents. For this reason, the soil must replenish them again and again.
The world population is constantly increasing (today we are about 7 billion people), but the arable land is always the same. Therefore, we need the same land to produce more and more food.
Nutrients, such as granulated urea, fertilize. And fertilization helps the land to recover from the effort made in the previous production cycle and to generate a larger number of crops. These well nurtured crops are better able to withstand harsh weather conditions and produce higher quality food.
What is granulated urea for
Granulated Urea is the essential fertilizer for plant growth, along with Phosphorus (P) and Potassium (K).
Due to its production method, Profertil Granulated Urea has more uniform and resistant granules, providing quality to the fertilizer, the main attribute for which customers choose to buy our product. Because of this characteristic, granulated urea adapts better to humid climates, absorbing less humidity from the environment and avoiding clumping. It can also be blended with other fertilizers according to the different needs of the crops. You can obtain more specific information by clicking on Products and Services.

Who do we produce for
Agricultural producers are the final users of our products. Through the attention of eight Territory Managers and together with technicians of agronomy stores in the whole country they spread the responsible use of fertilizers for nutrition.
How do we do it
PRODUCTION PROCESS
To produce granulated urea, three components are needed:
- Water
- Natural Gas
- Air
Which are converted under special temperature and pressure conditions.
In our plant, we get raw water, which is filtered, demineralized and cooled down.
Then, it goes into a boiler to become steam.
That steam reaches the furnaces where natural gas also comes in, and where, at high temperatures, both feedstocks are divided into carbon, hydrogen and other gases at very high temperatures.
Then, hydrogen goes into a piece of equipment where it is combined with nitrogen from the air and converts them into ammonia (NH3)
Part of this ammonia is used to produce urea. The remainder is sold for different uses, such as coolant and raw material for the cosmetic and cleaning industries.
The ammonia we use to produce urea must be combined with carbon dioxide. The result is liquid urea, which goes through concentration processes until it has the right consistency to enter the granulators.
In short, we are a company that takes a resource that is generally used for combustion, natural gas, and adds value by transforming it into nutrients for the soil.
This happens 24 hours a day, 365 days a year, therefore, we say that we are a continuous process plant.
This process produces liquid and gaseous wastes that are permanently monitored by our Environment, Health and Safety area and by the Laboratory. This monitoring complies with strict legal standards established by international organizations, our country, the province of Buenos Aires and the city of Bahía Blanca.
