Profertil presented its Sustainability Report 2019
Press release Social, economic, and environmental balance
Ingeniero White, September 1, 2020. Profertil released its Sustainability Report 2019. This is the ninth consecutive year in which the company has prepared this document detailing its actions in relation to the triple social, economic, and environmental balance, in order to strengthen the commitment to the community and the development of sustainable agriculture. The Report is now available on the company’s website (www.profertil.com.ar) so that all interested parties can learn about the company’s initiatives related to sustainability. An annex was also added this year to tell how Profertil adapted to the context of the pandemic.
As has been the case for several years now, a digital version was chosen in order to avoid the environmental costs of printing on paper and at the same time achieve a greater outreach by being available to all audiences. Also, there is a video on the same page that summarizes the content of the Report and presents the main data in an attractive and dynamic way. Regarding the design concept, in this new edition a mobile first format was implemented, which allows to improve the reading experience from any device, whether it is a desktop computer, notebook, tablet or cell phone.
Among the most relevant events of 2019, the Report mentions the certification obtained by Profertil from the International Fertilizer Association (IFA), which qualified the company with a score of excellence in the “Protect & Sustain Product Stewardship” program, which recognizes the safety and sustainability of the integral management of fertilizer during its life cycle.
Regarding the initiatives related to environmental care, the advances of the agreement to produce granulated urea from wind energy are detailed, which will make 60% of the main nitrogen fertilizer to be obtained with renewable energies. In addition, a review is made of the programs that contribute to the social development of the company’s neighboring communities, including the Project Board, the Growing in Community program, the Vegetable Garden Program and Plant Visits.
Within the company, we point out the advances in diversity and inclusion, a field in which the incorporation of women in the role of plant operators stands out. There is also a review of the policy of prevention and control of addictions, for which Profertil obtained the certification as Preventive Labor Environment, granted by the SEDRONAR, and which was included in the Good Practice Guide of the IFREI Club (IAE).
The elaboration of the Profertil Sustainability Report responds to the GRI (Global Reporting Initiative) standards, which represent the best practices at a global level to publicly report the economic, environmental, and social impacts of an organization. Similarly, it is in line with the criteria proposed by the UN from the Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) that seek, through 17 objectives, to positively transform our world by 2030. Profertil subscribes to these objectives through its participation in the Global Compact, the world’s largest social responsibility initiative.
